Interest for game development platforms for mobile: some statistics
I just read in the latest PC Today August 2009 release at Miami International airport that a recnt survey that CRI Middleware conducted of about 100 Japanese game developers. Of the surveyed companies, 87% have an interest in developing for iPhone platform, 18 percent have already released titles, 16 percent are working on new titles, and 38 percent do not have plans in place. What was also interesting was that 47 percent expressed interest in the Android platform, 39 percent for Windows Mobile, 6 percent for Palm's webOS, and just 2 percent for Symbian. I have to say that Symbian seems to have some real issues going forward in their platform from a third-party developer perspective.
